ORCA Members' Standards
ORCA is a non-profit association representing more than 250 retirement residences in Ontario who must meet ORCA's strict standards of operation. A retirement residence must undergo a rigorous evaluation to ensure it meets ORCA's standards before it is accepted as a member. Residences that do not meet the standards are refused membership until they address all areas of concern. ORCA members must meet standards in many areas, including:
- Quality of resident care
- Safety and security
- Emergency planning
- Building and property maintenance
- Recreation opportunities
- Food and meal service
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act
Not all retirement residences are members of ORCA - only residences that apply for membership and meet ORCA's standards are accepted. ORCA membership is your assurance of a well-maintained, safe, professional and pleasant living environment.
